PointsBet NJ Sportsbook Review

Nothing like getting smacked in the face with bonus after bonus at the top of a sportsbook page. That’s what we found at PointsBet, an Australian sportsbook provider that’s a relative newbie in the field of U.S. sportsbooks.

The sportsbook is available for iOS and Android, with downloads available from the app store or at PointsBet.com. Whatever is available on the online site is offered on mobile as well.

A bold red on black background with a rolling bonus bar denotes energy on a site that beckons bettors to dive in.

If new to the site or the concept of PointsBet, we recommend you thoroughly read the Revis Betting Academy primer which explains the high-risk, high-rewards it offers.

Basically, how much a bettor wins or loses contingent on how close the bettor’s prediction is to the contests’ final outcome.

For example, if a bettor wagers $10 on “OVER 200 total points scored” in a Knicks/Bulls game and the result is 220 points (a 20-point win) the win/loss is $200.

Basically, “the more the bettor is right, the more he/she win” vs. “the more the bettor wrong the more he/she loses.”

Each betting market has its own “multiplier cap,” with varies based on the volatility of that specific market, so don’t be surprised to see a win/loss multipler of 250x vs another capped at 10x.

Got it?

If this concept has you breaking out in hives, no worries, traditional bets are welcome as well.

The advantage of spread betting is that is keeps games interesting and bettors engaged until the last whistle or buzzer.

Another bonus is the “Karma Kommittee” which daily considers the previous day’s action and rights any wrong with bonus bets if there is a blown call or even a blown shoe, such as when PointsBet made good on bets and boosters when Zion Williamson’s shoe fell apart.

Wagers on the spread-betting market includes spread on who will win the game, point totals, passing yards on a quarter back, a game’s winning margin, etc.

Traditional bets are just that, traditional – from money lines to point totals to game props.

The markets offered by PointsBet are among the largest with some contests offering more than 200 different bet options a game. Note that there are more options in pro leagues than on collegiate games.

Deposits are made through Visa and Mastercard, PointsBet Card, ACH (eCheck) or PayWithMyBank (online banking).

Withdrawals and Payout options are a PointsBet Card of ACH (eCheck).

Promotions are plentiful with many offerings changing daily. Here are a few they’ve previously offered of may still be offering:

  • No Juice NFL Lines which eliminated the “juice” on all NFL point spreads

  •

  • Early Payouts: This offer pays your pre-game wagers instantly if you pick gets ahead by a certain number of points.

  •

  • Make it Rain: Get $1 for Every Ace in the U.S. Open

  •

PointsBet also offers “Name A Bet” where if a bettor doesn’t see an available betting market on the site you can tweet @PointsBetUSA and an oddsmaker will price the wager for the bettor.

They also a Loyalty Program such as the one on the NFL which offers $100 bonus bet for 25 bets, $200 for $50 etc.

MOBILE INTERFACE *****

The nature of wagers PointsBet offers plus the display of multiple promos and more-than-engaging interfaces creates a sense urgency in wanting to be part of the action.

DEPOSIT METHODS ****

Secure if not a few options -- Visa and Mastercard, PointsBet Card, ACH (eCheck) or PayWithMyBank (online banking) – are nice, but where’s PayPal?

EASE OF DEPOSITS AND WITHDRAWALS ****

The deposit methods are secure and quick, but PointsBet should consider a PayPal option. Ditto on withdrawal options.

SAFETY AND SECURITY *****

PointsBet uses all needed safeguards and is licensed and regulated by New Jersey’s Division of Gaming Enforcement and Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission. The site also offers users a “strong” authentication “text code” at sign-in if needed.

CUSTOMER SERVICE ****

Around-the-clock customer assistance is offered through a live chat offered onsite, email, on Twitter @PointsBetUSA or by phone 833-388-PBET.

USER EXPERIENCE *****

We highly recommend a thorough reading of the Revis Betting Academy that will better acclimate bettors to the unique ways to wager and hopefully assist in bettors fully embracing the PointsBet experience.

OVERALL ****

PointsBet excels at giving a responsible bettor a unique and exciting wagering experience, including creating their own bet and being engaged until the final buzzer. There is however an equal amount of risk so, again, we stress the word “responsible.”
