Tottenham currently occupy fourth position with 26 points, trailing table leaders Manchester City by two points after completing 12 matches. In their most recent Premier League encounter at Molineux, Tottenham suffered a 2-1 defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Aston Villa, on the other hand, secured a 3-1 victory over Fulham in their most recent league fixture played at home. Villa currently sit just one point behind Spurs in fifth place heading into this weekend’s round of fixtures.
Due to extensive injuries, Tottenham have drifted in the Match Result market over the last few days, with 29/20 now available with betMGM. The draw is available at 29/10 for Tottenham vs Aston Villa, while a win for Villa which would see them leapfrog Spurs is chalked-up at 7/4.
Tottenham vs Aston Villa Tips
Unai Emery has worked wonders since his arrival in the Midlands and although his side have shown their best performances on home soil with an impeccable record at Villa Park, we are backing them to win on the road at Spurs.
Ange Postecoglou has seen injuries ravage his side and will be without as many as five first choice starters. So far this season, the Australian has very much known his strongest XI and after defeats against Chelsea and Wolves I think they will struggle here.
Defender Micky van de Ven is injured, while Cristian Romero is suspended. The key figure of Yves Bissouma in the middle of the park is also serving a suspension, while the loss of James Maddison until the New Year is sure to be a costly one.
Villa have won five of their last six in the league and will be at full strength here. The downgrade in central defence for Spurs with Eric Dier and Ben Davies could be very telling on Sunday and we think Villa could well go off even shorter once team news is announced.
For those looking for something at a bit more of a price, I’d also like to highlight the 17/5 that is available for Ben Davies to be carded.
Both of these sides like to play a high-line, which for Spurs works when you have the pace of Romero and van de Ven. However, with Eric Dier and Ben Davies, I can see Ollie Watkins and Moussa Diaby having a field day running in behind.
Davies is the one I’m leaning towards to be carded at the prices and looking back at his disciplinary record, he has collected ten yellows over the last two league campaigns, despite not always being a regular starter.
