Football Accumulator Tips: Cards on the menu in 38/1 punt

Three matches take place in the Premier League on Sunday with Burnley against Aston Villa and Sheffield United against Manchester City both kicking-off at 2pm, before Newcastle take on Liverpool at 4:30pm. We’ve combined our favourite fancies for the afternoon’s proceedings into an acca with Paddy Power that pays 38/1.
Sunday Acca Tips
Burnley vs Aston Villa
First up we have an all claret and blue affair at Turf Moor where Burnley take on Aston Villa. Burnley have only played one game so far which came against Manchester City. It may not be the Champions arriving in East Lancashire this time round, but a tough test awaits for Vincent Kompany’s side against an Aston Villa outfit who have their sights set on another European finish this season and have scored nine goals without reply in the last week.
It’s three players to be carded that we are backing on Sunday with the first of those being Lucas Digne. The left-back has been booked in both the Premier League matches he has featured in so far this season, and was also carded in the 5-0 win over Hibs in the Europa Conference League on Wednesday.
Sheffield United vs Manchester City
We really fear for Sheffield United this season. The Blades have been disappointing in the transfer market during this window and look to have a real lack of quality to compete at this level. In comparison to last season, Sheffield United have lost Iliman Ndiaye, and loanees Tommy Doyle, Ciaran Clark, Reda Khadra and James McAtee have returned home to their parent club, with Sander Berge also departing for Burnley.
Sheffield United's hopes of getting points on the board dashed when Chris Wood's header in extra time led to a heartbreaking 2-1 loss against Nottingham Forest just a week ago. Paul Heckingbottom's team has failed to secure any points following their defeat against Crystal Palace in the season's inaugural weekend. Their journey in the premier league has no respite, as they are set to face the reigning Champions on Sunday, posing yet another daunting challenge.
Anel Ahmedhodzic is the player we fancy to be carded at Bramall Lane on Sunday. Only three players in the entire Championship picked up more yellow cards than Sheffield United central defender last season with 12. Anel has already seen yellow once since the return to the top flight and with starting on the right side of a Blades he may get dragged out to deal with the trickery of Jack Grealish in this encounter.
Newcastle vs Liverpool
Some might say this is a bit of a legacy fixture in the history of the Premier League with many memorable and entertaining clashes coming over recent decades. Newcastle were only beaten five times last season, however two of those came against Liverpool in 2022/23.
We may only have a small sample after two rounds of top-flight fixtures, but only two players in the league have committed more fouls than Anthony Gordon this term. The former Everton man is also the most fouled player in the division so far and he should be in for a good battle with Trent Alexander-Arnold on that side of the pitch.
Gordon has been booked in both Premier League matches so far this season and with his links to the blue half of Merseyside, it would be no surprise to see him go three from three to start the campaign.
Combining those three players all to be carded pays 38/1 with Paddy Power.
